Anniversary Portraits

Julia + Joegi | Anniversary | Long Island, New York

Whether you and your partner are celebrating two years together or fifty, I believe EVERYONE should give anniversary sessions a shot. I love photographing anniversaries because there’s nothing sweeter than witnessing each couple’s unique relationship and to learn how it all started. It’s hilarious when they finish each other’s sentences or when she knows exactly what he is thinking/about to say. If I haven’t convinced you yet, maybe this session will…

The first time my cousin, Joegi and his beautiful wife, Julia appeared in front of my camera was for their engagement session two years ago. Two years later, here I am documenting their anniversaries and it’s been sooo much fun!! Since they went for a formal look last year, it was time to change things up for year two. The lovely couple wanted to incorporate a nature/water theme into this year’s session and I knew exactly what to search for. I’m always looking for an excuse to try out locations that challenge me as a photographer (for example, walk into knee deep water, capture the perfect shot AND not drop my camera…this is a huge challenge since I’m so clumsy!). This hidden gem was exactly what I had in mind for the backdrop and J & J were the perfect couple to try out this new experience with. And as you may have guessed, I survived the cold water (thank goodness for rainboots) and didn’t drop the camera (phewwww!). It’s going to be hard to top this but I’m already excited for year three!
